Configuring Firefox to Work with eTokens

Note: As you may be aware, eToken authentication for high security logins, including AMS, ROSI, ROSI Files, Rocket Shuttle, and StarRez, will migrate to UTORMFA on November 27. Learn more about this project on the eToken Migration page.

Firefox requires a specific configuration to allow an eToken to be used as a certificate store.  Follow the below instructions based on your operating system to configure Firefox:


Firefox on Windows:

  • Open the Firefox menu (top right of browser) and select Options
  • Select Privacy & Security (left side menu)
  • Scroll to the bottom to find the Certificates section
  • Click on the Security Devices… button
  • Click the Load button (right side menu)
  • Enter eToken as the Module Name
  • Enter c:\windows\system32\etpkcs11.dll as the Module filename
  • Click OK

Firefox on MacOSX:

  • Open the Firefox menu (top right of browser) and select Preferences
  • Select Privacy & Security (left side menu)
  • Scroll to the bottom to find the Certificates section
  • Click on the Security Devices… button
  • Click the Load button (right side menu)
  • Enter eToken as the Module Name
  • Enter /usr/local/lib/libeTPkcs11.dylib as the Module filename
  • Click OK

Firefox on Linux:

  • Open the Firefox menu and select Preferences
  • Select Privacy & Security (left column)
  • Scroll to the bottom to find the Certificates section
  • Click on the Security Devices… button
  • Click the Load button
  • Enter /usr/lib/libeTPkcs11.so as the Module filename
