Onboarding Orientation for Windows 10/Intune Machine

On the day and time of the migration, do the following:

  1. Set up the laptop
    • Power on the laptop
    • Select the appropriate location – Canada
    • Select the correct keyboard – US (No additional keyboard required - Skip)
    • Connect to Wifi
    • Enter UofT email in the initial sign-in prompt, then Utorid/Password
    • Restart the unit once you reach the Desktop
  2. After the restart, connect to the client’s computer remotely via ConnectWise Control and elevate your Azure admin credentials (Click on the “Send Ctrl-Alt-Del” icon).
    * This step is only required for remote orientation.
  3. Allow 5-10 minutes for an auto-installation of Microsoft Teams and OneDrive. All files from H: drive on the client’s old computer will be moved to OneDrive. You will see OneDrive appear on the left-hand side panel in File Explorer. Depending on the size of the files and the client’s Internet connectivity, it can take from 5 minutes to a couple of hours for all files to appear in OneDrive on the new laptop.
  4. Install UTORcsi 215 Huron.
  5. Install the software and available printers from Company Portal – no admin access will be needed.
    • If there aren’t printers listed in Company Portal, see if they are available in Software Center.
    • If they do not show up, go to Control Panel -> Configuration Manager -> Actions and run all actions. Then go to Software Center -> Options -> Computer Maintenance and click Sync.
  6. Install all other required software listed in the pre-migration checklist for this user.
    • Applications like Sticky Notes, Notepad ++, VLC media player can be installed from Microsoft Store.
  7. Map Network Shared Drives, if available (requires UTORcsi VPN connection)
  8. Map Sharepoint sites to File explorer (if available)
    • Open a Sharepoint site you would like to map
    • Click on the “Sync” option
  9. Configure Outlook
    • Sign in to Outlook
    • Import contacts/notes/tasks backed up during the pre-migration interview (if available)
      • Go to File --> Open & Export --> Import/Export
      • Select “Import from another program or file” and click Next
      • Select Outlook Data File (.pst) and click Next
      • Click Browse and navigate to OneDrive > My Documents > Migration 2020 or Migration 2021 folder and select a pst file that contains “notes”, “contacts” or “tasks”. If you have all three files, you will need to import each file separately.
  10. Restore web browser bookmarks (if available)
  11. Restore any other files that were backed up during the pre-migration interview.
  12. Make sure the client can connect to Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client with an e-token (if available).
