If you are running a Unix system it is unlikely you even need to read this.

A Unix system should have no problem handling an lpd print connection. About the only information you might need is the name of the host at our end that will be sending you print jobs so that it can be added to your “trusted hosts” list (usually /etc/hosts.lpd).

These are the only two systems that are likely to be sending you print jobs.
