A listserv is an automated mailing list to which you may subscribe in order to receive regular messages about AMS activities such as system availability or downtime schedules, new procedures and policies or information about newly available programs.
If you have changed departments and had a subsequent e-mail address change you should unsubscribe from the list using your old e-mail address and re-subscribe with the new address. This will not occur automatically as we do not know you’ve changed your e-mail address unless you tell us.
When you perform the subscribe routine, as described below, an automated instruction is sent to the manager of the list with your request for inclusion. The list manager acknowledges your request and accepts your subscription. At this point, you will receive confirmation of your membership.
How to Subscribe to the AMS Listserv Steps
Steps – From the email account where you wish to receive future announcements:
- Send an e-mail to the listserv manager. Enter the following address into the Send To/Mail To field: listserv@listserv.utoronto.ca
- Enter the word “Hi” into the Subject line of the e-mail message.
- In the message area of the e-mail you provide, the listserv manager with an instruction to attach your name to the subscriber list. The message must look like the sentence below:
- subscribe AMS-USERS-L Firstname Lastname where “Firstname” is your first name and “Lastname” is your last name
- For example, the message might look like this: subscribe AMS-USERS-L Cranberry Muffin
- Send an e-mail to submit your request. A confirmation message will be sent to your e-mail box.
How to Unsubscribe from the AMS Listserv
Use this function if:
- you no longer use any AMS modules
- you are changing your e-mail address within the University
Steps:
- From your e-mail program compose a new message and address it to listserv@listserv.utoronto.ca
- Place the word “Bye” in the Subject field of the e-mail.
- In the message area of the e-mail enter the following sentence: signoff AMS-USERS-L
- Send an e-mail to submit your request. A confirmation message will be sent to your e-mail box.
