Re: Update on UTime – U of T’s Time and Attendance Solution

Hi everyone,

We are pleased to provide an update on the rollout of UTime, U of T’s Time and Attendance solution. This application, which will replace Kronos Workforce Central, offers an enhanced user experience, along with robust timekeeping, advanced scheduling and much improved reporting.

Over the past year, the Enterprise Applications & Solutions Integration (EASI) team, in collaboration with the Division of People Strategy, Equity & Culture (PSEC), has worked to implement a new application for enhanced time and attendance, which is tightly integrated with U of T’s on-premises Human Resources Information System used to process most employee payroll. During the design phase, the project expanded its scope to also include brand new capability for tracking and reporting on employees with multiple assignments. We are currently in the testing phase, and the project is progressing well.

After consulting with divisions and Faculties, the launch date for UTime has been set for August 3, 2025.

Benefits of UTime

  • Improved mobile-friendly user interface and navigation, providing easy access to frequently used actions.
  • Improved dataviews and robust reporting, providing standard user-friendly insights that enhance transparency and tracking.
  • Automated notifications that simplify timecard approvals and track employee hours.
  • Enhanced alignment with U of T’s payroll system for improved information delivery and data accuracy.
  • Streamlined and simplified processes for managing, tracking and reporting on employees with multiple assignments.
  • Piloting advanced scheduling functionality with select departments at U of T Mississauga and the Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education – includes call lists, shift swap and shift pattern template.

Please stay tuned for communications on training, pre-launch activities and support. Please pass this message along to managers/supervisors in your area who currently use Kronos.

If you have any questions about the project, please contact our Project Manager, Farah Ally, at farah.ally@utoronto.ca

Sincerely,
Enterprise Applications & Solutions Integration (EASI)
