Re: Update on the Compensation Planning Tool Project

For those who currently do compensation planning and budgeting at the University:

As you may be aware, the University has been working to implement a new Compensation Planning Tool. In August 2021, we made the decision to cancel our development contract with an external software vendor, and shift focus to a “made @ U of T” approach to compensation planning, with improvements to the existing SAP tool (B6).

This approach will deliver many of the improvements sought by our financial planning community, while retaining the robust security, performance, and familiar interface of the SAP platform.

Benefits of the new compensation planning tool include:

  • An improved, intuitive user experience, data analysis and validation that builds on the familiarity of the existing B6 tool.
  • Long-range compensation planning with a six-year planning outlook and salary increase projections.
  • A holistic view of compensation, which expands beyond the current data on appointed staff to include hourly and non-appointed staff.
  • Salary increase scenario planning, which allows divisional users to input long range increase assumptions for various employee groups.
  • Simplified compensation projections by automating salary increase provision calculations (e.g. ATB, PTR, Merit, Grid etc.).

We have completed Quality Assurance Testing and User Acceptance Testing will occur from November to early December. Training will occur in a train-the-trainer format from December to January and we plan to launch the new tool for the 2022-23 budget planning process in February, 2022.

Thank you for your patience throughout this process and your input and participation to date.

We look forward to providing you with regular updates on the project.

UTORMFA to replace eTokens for high security applications

Information Security is pleased to announce that eToken authentication for high security applications that use AdminVPN, including AMS, ROSI, ROSI Files, Rocket Shuttle, StarRez and Unit VPNs, will migrate to UTORMFA on November 27.

All other eToken applications (i.e. those that don’t require AdminVPN) are already UTORMFA enabled. To login with UTORMFA simply click “Send me a push” on the weblogin page.

UTORMFA has already been adopted by over 11,500 members of the U of T community. UTORMFA, powered by DUO, is a software based multi-factor authentication method that authenticates user logins via prompts sent to a user’s phone. This authentication method is easy to use, quick to set up and secure. If you haven’t already done so, sign up for UTORMFA today.

Users will find it quick and convenient to use UTORMFA, especially with an increasingly hybrid work environment.

Key project details:

Cisco AnyConnect Configuration Update – November 8

In preparation for the migration on November 27, local IT administrators will deploy an updated Cisco AnyConnect AdminVPN profile to users’ computers before November 8. After the deployment, users will see the current AdminVPN (port.eis.utoronto.ca) and the new AdminVPN (admin.vpn.utoronto.ca). This new admin.vpn.utoronto.ca will be fully activated on November 27 – please continue to use port.eis.utoronto.ca until this date.

Migration Details

After November 27, eTokens will no longer be issued to new users. These users will need to be on-boarded with UTORMFA instead. Though some applications may continue to accept eToken, we highly recommend that users switch to UTORMFA as soon their application is supported. In February 2022 eTokens will be retired. After retirement, eTokens must be returned to your local eToken administrator/departmental administrator.

Digital Signing

Anyone using eToken Digital Signing will have to move to an alternative electronic signature solution before February 2022. No new eTokens will be issued after November 27, 2021, and new staff members will need to use an alternate solution for electronic signatures.

Project Dates

Aug. 29 and Sept. 12 AdminVPN migration testing successfully completed for Cisco AnyConnect.
Nov. 3  All eToken users need to be signed up for UTORMFA.
Nov. 8 All AdminVPN users have Cisco AnyConnect AdminVPN profile updated.
Nov. 27 admin.vpn.utoronto.ca is activated for all AdminVPN users and applications (including AMS, ROSI, ROSI Files, Rocket Shuttle, StarRez and Unit VPNs).
Nov. 27  eTokens will no longer be issued and all users should be using UTORMFA to access the new AdminVPN.
Dec. 8 port.eis.utoronto.ca VPN will be deactivated and IT administrators will start removing the profile from the Cisco AnyConnect drop-down menu.
Feb. 2022  eToken retirement.

Learn more at an upcoming Connect+Learn session or view a recording of a past session. You can also visit Information Security’s website for more information about the eToken migration project.

Learn about UTORMFA and make sure to sign up before November 3!

Reminder – Action Required: Updating Cisco AnyConnect Configuration – eToken Migration Project

A message from Information Security

This communication is intended for divisional IT administrators.

This is a reminder that eToken authentication for high security logins that use AdminVPN will migrate to UTORMFA on November 27. UTORMFA has already been adopted by 11757 members of the U of T community. It is easy to use and provides enhanced security for U of T’s systems.

As part of this project, we will be changing AdminVPN from port.eis.utoronto.ca to admin.vpn.utoronto.ca. Applications currently using AdminVPN with eToken include:

  • AMS
  • ROSI
  • ROSI Files
  • ROSI Express
  • Rocket Shuttle
  • StarRez
  • Unit VPNs

To prepare for this change, we will need your help to install an updated Cisco AnyConnect AdminVPN profile by November 8, 2021. This will allow admin.vpn.utoronto.ca to automatically appear in the Cisco AnyConnect drop-down menu, providing users with easy access.

The deployment package (KB0011157) has been developed by Information Security and can be used to roll out the configuration to your users.

Should you require further assistance, you can submit a ticket to the Enterprise Service Centre.

If you are using eToken Digital Signing, please move to an alternative electronic signature solution before February 2022. No new eTokens will be issued after November 27, 2021, and new staff members will need to use an alternate solution for electronic signatures.  To learn more, you can join us for an upcoming Connect+Learn session on Electronic Signatures and Enterprise DocuSign:
