Update on External Email Banner Notification – Revised Banner Launches Nov. 19

Dear Colleagues,

A number of issues have been brought to our attention regarding the new external email banner initiative designed to warn U of T employees and students of emails originating outside the university.

The banner is just one part of our strategy to mitigate malicious and sophisticated email attacks directed at the university community and may be removed in the future as we are able to implement additional security tools.

We have evaluated the concerns raised regarding the impact of the banner on the general quality of communications with known external colleagues and the limited email preview pane. To alleviate these concerns, we have significantly shortened the banner and associated text.

The revised banner will be rolled out to the university beginning Thursday, November 19, 2020.

This is how the banner will appear at the top of all faculty, staff and students’ external emails:

We appreciate your feedback and support as we work to find solutions which both protect our users, as well as improve the general user experience.

Visit this website for more information. If you have any questions, please open a ticket at uoft.me/esc.

Kind regards,

Please do NOT process Change of POSt (CHOP) on Monday, November 16, 2020

Re:
Please do NOT process Change of POSt (CHOP) on Monday, November 16, 2020

Dear ROSI users,

*** This e-mail is sent on behalf of Student Receivables & Accounting Office ***

Please do NOT process any batch or online Change of POSt (CHOP) today, Monday, November 16, 2020  as the Incidental Fees are being adjusted .

If you process a CHOP for a student during this period, the student’s fees will be calculated incorrectly and in a manner that will be very difficult and time-consuming for Student Receivables & Accounting Office to correct.

The student’s ACORN Financial Account may be blocked while the corrections are made.

If you must process a CHOP for a student during this period, then you must trigger fees assessment by viewing the student’s invoice, and forward an email message to bonnie.vincze@utoronto.ca.

Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Student Information Systems

Hi everyone,

We are excited to announce that the new Student Information Systems (SIS) site is live. It’s replacing the previous SIS for Staff website with a more secure, modern, and up to date site. This is a development that will provide users with a brand-new experience thanks to its new design, accessible interface, and extended search results and accessibility features.

You will notice that we moved the SIS website to SharePoint. This will allow us to share more information than we can on the current public website.

To access the new SIS site, connect through your web browser and sign in to your work account with your UTORid and password at https://utoronto.sharepoint.com/sites/its-easi-sis/

Since spring 2020, Student Information Systems has worked on enhancing content currency, web structure, security, and design to provide a better user experience.

Electronic Signature Information

Dear colleagues,

We are excited to announce that a new electronic signature, self-service SharePoint Centre of Excellence site https://utoronto.sharepoint.com/sites/its-easi-esignature is now available for use.

The new SharePoint site has been a joint effort between Information Technology Services and divisional representatives to provide resources and guidance for divisions interested in e-signature solutions. E-signatures have been legal in Canada since 2004 and endorsed by PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act), however COVID-19 times have created new urgencies to digitize and optimize some processes where signatures are required.

The site provides detailed information on:

Re: Connect+Learn: UTORMFA self-enrollment training

Hi everyone,

As many of you will know, Information Security is initiating a roll-out of the University of Toronto’s new multi-factor authentication (MFA) service UTORMFA. UTORMFA offers a significant contribution to the University’s mission to protect user accounts and data: this layer of security provides extra assurance for users and creates an additional barrier for anyone trying to gain unauthorized access to user accounts.

Staff, faculty and librarians across the tri-campus community are all encouraged to self-enroll in UTORMFA. This month, Connect+Learn will offer two sessions on the UTORMFA self-enrollment process to assist the University community in this transition.

Join Connect+Learn and representatives from Information Security on November 12 and November 19 to learn about:

  • What UTORMFA is
  • Why UTORMFA is important
  • How to self-enroll in UTORMFA

These sessions will feature a live walkthrough followed by a question and answer session. Please read the information below for session details and upcoming dates.
